So many diets, so much advice, what to do? Well, to be honest, the best advice for dieting is to eat the right food, and that’s why I’ve called this the ‘eat-right’ diet.

How does it work?

Lean Protein. Eat The Right Stuff

Quite simply, you eat the right stuff! The starting point is to know what to include in a good meal.

As a guideline I would recommend you base it around a food that is rich in protein but lean – chicken is a good choice, especially without the skin, as is any variety of baked fish or lean beef, preferably ground – and add to it a carbohydrate that helps the system gain energy.

Suitable carbohydrate sources include whole wheat pasta or brown rice.

There, you have chicken and pasta – what is there to complain about? Or you could even construct a lasagna with the lean beef and pasta, or using the rice a chicken and fish and rice dish. All very tasty, and all very healthy, too.

A further aid to keeping your meals healthy is to scour your cupboards for unsuitable foods – crisps, chips, sweets and so on – as we all know temptation can be the enemy in the strive for good health!

Desserts

For dessert, you have an endless choice of fruit, the friend of the healthy, with which to make an appetizing and delicious pudding to complement the dinner that you have just enjoyed.

There are no hard and fast rules to making a diet work, and you have to find what it is that will suit you. It is no good feeling hungry all the time from not eating enough – remember the body needs energy to carry out its daily job – and that is why the eat-right diet is a sensible option.

You can even consider a snack or two to keep you going, healthy foods such as dried fruit, in order to keep the hunger pains away.
